I’m a part-time writer living on the New South Wales Central Coast in Australia. I served for over two decades in the military, and since then have worked as a business consultant. I have degrees in Business, Philosophy, Information System Design and Strategic Studies from universities in Australia and the UK, and have served on academic staff at The Australian National University and The University of Newcastle.
I still consider myself new to creative writing, even though I began writing my first novel (and only, so far) in 1989. The first draft was completed in April this year (2016), and I’m now learning that what comes after the first draft is the most challenging part of the process.
For me, as a reader of literary fiction, the emergence of Regal House Publishing is such an exciting prospect. The open submission policy allows for a broad range of works to be considered, the selection process provides the guarantee of exceptional quality, and the meticulous editing process allows for each work to be presented in its finest possible form. I’m so looking forward to the forthcoming releases.
Regal House has kindly asked me to be involved with the development of Off The Precipice – a resource repository for writers. The metaphor embodied within this repository represents the writing journey, from initial idea through to publishing, as a leap from a precipice into the unknown. For most of us, we rush towards that leap as quickly as we can, only to arrive at the precipice poorly prepared and with no idea how we got there.
